Hello. My name is Jessica Santana.
Welcome to LS Lab Media.
I named LS Lab Media after my father’s classroom: Life Sciences Lab. My father, Dr. Don Santana, was a professor of life sciences and he taught most of his professional life in a small community college classroom called Life Science Lab or LS Lab at the bottom of a foothill in Northern California. My father used his classroom to teach life sciences to college students, but he also used his classroom as a pulpit to talk about and give voice to the issues and concerns outside of the classroom that he cared about. Way before recycling became socially accepted, for example, my father sent my sister and I to school with lunches packed in brown bags with instructions to return home with the brown bags. Recycling. More than 30+ years ago. That was one of his favorite out of the classroom subjects.
In 2008 my father was diagnosed with bladder cancer. The cancer spread throughout his body, small tumors growing larger and larger until his body no longer could withstand the metastatic growth, and he passed away in 2011. It was only 2 years and 10 months from his diagnosis to his death, and in that very short window of time, I experienced our healthcare system, making life altering decisions at 135 mph. I experienced many frustrations, deep inadequacies that stem from entrenched bureaucratic systems, and so many opportunities for change, innovation, and growth.
Just like my father used his classroom to give voice to issues that he cared about, I am using this platform to engage, impact, and change the areas of healthcare that are important to me. Like my father’s classroom, this is my LS Lab.
My experience ranges from driving innovation in local SoCal startups, navigating bureaucracy in two Fortune 500 companies and raising money for nonprofit organizations. My expertise lies in bringing resources together around a common theme, encouraging responsibility and accountability, and working towards collaborative outcomes in partnership. I specialize in digital health because this is where change is driving innovation in healthcare.
Below are some of the brands that I have had experience working with on big and small projects.
